The main way to remove water from the diesel filtration system is precipitation, Or set up a precipitation chamber in the lower part of the filter , or use a special precipitator. When the water accumulate to a certain amount level ,you have to of open valve to blow down water, no matter the filter is in the lower part of the precipitation chamber, or a special precipitator are equipped with a discharge valve, so it call fuel water separator  .

The introduction of fuel water separator 
Fuel water separator is the one of the fuel filter ,the main function is removing the water in the fuel ,to reduce the nozzle failure and extend the using life of the engine 

The main filter principle
According to the difference between water and fuel density, the use of gravity sedimentation principle is to remove impurities and water , there are diffusion cone, filter screen and other separation components. Fuel water separator has other functions, such as preheating of fuel to prevent wax, filter impurities.

The advantage of fixing fuel water separator  
Under National stage III, the use of high-pressure common rail engine models of diesel quality requirements are higher, because the high-pressure injection nozzle needs precise control of fuel injection pressure, injection time and fuel injection amount, so the workmanship is also more delicate. If the diesel can’t filter the water or impurities cleanly, the nozzle will be struck because of plunger parts . The damage of injector will cause the engine to accelerate instability or accelerate the weakness, or emiss black smoke and other failures, affecting the normal operation of the vehicle.
 
As the first stage of the multi-stage filter system, the fuel preliminary filter has the function of removing large particles impurities and moisture. National emission stage III have high requirement for fuel pressure, the fuel water separation efficiency require up to 95%, but many coarse filter can’t achieve such a filtering effect, over time will cause damage to the engine. In order to make the engine "drink" clean diesel, and you have to go through a "secondary processing" for the unqualified oil , and then installing a set of fuel-water separator is the most simple and practical method.
