【Meiruier Filter】Filter Classification of commonly used engine filter

There are three engine filter: air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, commonly known as the "filter", with the cabin filter, commonly known as four filters. Four types of filters are responsible for the lubrication system, the media in the combustion system, the engine intake system, the compartment air circulation system . 

1.Air filter
Air filter mainly used in the gas dynamic machinery, internal combustion machinery and other fields, to provide clean air for mechanical equipment , to prevent the risk of abrasion and damage once the mechanical equipment inhalation of air with impurity particles in the work. The main component of the air filter is element and housing, element is the main filtering part, and is responsible for the filtration of the gas, and the housing provide necessary protection of the external structure for the filter element. Air filter requirements is able to bear the high efficiency air filtration work. Don't add too much resistance to air flow, and can work continuously for a long time.

2.Oil filter
Oil filter is located in the engine lubrication system. Its upper reaches are the oil pump, and the lower reaches are the parts that need to be lubricated in the engine. The effect is to remove harmful impurities from the oil in the oil sump, supply clean oil for the crankshaft, connecting rod, cam shaft, turbocharger, piston ring and other parts, lubrication, cooling, cleaning effect, as to prolong life of the parts. According to the structure of the oil filter can be replaced filter, rotary filter, centrifugal filter, according to the system in the layout can be divided into the full flow type filter and shunt filter. Materials of oil filter is paper, blankets, metal mesh, non-woven fabric etc..

3. Fuel filter
The fuel filter has three kinds of filters, diesel fuel filter, fuel filter and gas filter. The effect is to filter out harmful particles and moisture in the fuel gas system of the engine, to protect the oil pump, cylinder liner, piston ring, reduce being destoried , so that can avoid be blocked.

The structure of fuel filter is similar as oil filters. It has replaced filters and spin-on filters. But the work pressure and high temperature of fuel filters is lower than oil filters. Besides the filtration efficiency should be higher than oil filters. The element of diesel filters usually use paper, sometimes use the blankets or polymer materials.

Diesel filter can not only filtrate the mechanical impurities in the filter, but also have an important function is to filter water. The existence of water for the diesel engine fuel supply system is great harmful, corrosion, wear and tear, and even worsen the combustion process of diesel oil. Diesel oil filter system in water is the main way of precipitation. Or the lower part of the filter is provided with a precipitation chamber, or a special precipitator is adopted. No matter  the lower part of the filter precipitation chamber, or a special precipitator are equipped with a water valve, when the water to a certain amount of time, it should open the drain valve.
Gas filter includes carburetor and EFI two types. When using carburetor gasoline engine, Gasoline filter is located on the inlet side of the oil pump, the working pressure is small, so generally using nylon shell. The export side of gasoline filter in EFI engine oil pump, with high working pressure, usually made of metal. Gasoline filter the cartridge usually use paper, but also sometimes use  nylon cloth, polymer materials.
