The three kinds of the engine filters are oil filters, fuel filters, air filters. Each filter is used for the filtration of the medium in the lubrication system, burning system, air-flowing system.
The concept of the oil filter
Oil filter is located in the lubrication system of the engine. The upstream of the filter is oil pump, the downstream of the engine is different parts that need lubricate. The main function: Filtrate the harmful impurities of the oil in the oil pan and offer the clean oil to the connecting rod, supercharger, piston ring and other parts, it has the function of lubrication, cooling, cleaning and improve the efficiency of the engine. Oil filter, the filtration material has paper, hair felt, non-woven and so on.
The type of the oil filter
Oil filter, it can be classified into changeable filter, spin-on filter and centrifugal filter; it can also be classified to full flow filter and divided-flow filter.
Divided flow filter, it just can filtrate 5%-10% oil amount of oil pump. Divided flow filter
are all secondary filter, it is usually usedsimultaneously with full flow filter. Normally it mostly use full flow filter for low power engine。 For large power diesel engine, it will combine the usage of divided flow filter and full flow filter.

The fuel filter divided into three kinds, including diesel filter, gasoline filter and gas filter. The function of fuel filter: filtrate the harmful particles,moisture in the filter vapor system in order to protect the oil pump and piston ring, reducing the damage, avoiding block fuel system.
1. Diesel filter
The structure of diesel filter almost as same as oil filter’s , including changeable filter, spin-on type filter two types. The working pressure and the oil temperature requirement are lower than the oil filter, but filtrate efficiency requirement is far more than the oil filter.
The filter element usually adopts the filter paper, and felt , high polymer materials. The main function of diesel filter is filtrating the mechanical impurities and water in the diesel.
2. Gasoline filter
Gasoline filter is divided into the carburetor type filter and efi filter.
The engines that use the carburetor type filter, filter is arranged on the transfer pump inlet with low working pressure, usually adopts nylon shell. The engines that use the efi filter,filter is arranged on the transfer pump outlet with high working pressure, usually adopts metal shell.
The filter element of gasoline filter usually adopts paper, nylon cloth and high polymer materials.
The concept of air filter
Air filter, located in the engine intake system, consisting of one or several components of clean air filter components.
Filters main functions: filtered air entering the cylinder harmful impurities, in order to reduce premature wear of the cylinder, piston, piston rings, valves and valve seat.

1. Dry air filter
Dry air filter through a dry filter element, separating the impurities in the air from the filter.
Light vehicle used generally single-stage air filter, the filter has oblate shape, oval and flat type. The filter elements are made of paper, non-woven fabric. Filter cover with metal or polyurethane, the shell material is a metal or plastic.
Heavy vehicles. Due to poor working conditions, it must be a majority of the air filter.Most offilter element materials are using non-woven fabric, but also some are using of filter paper.
2. Wet air filter, including oil-immersed filter, oil-bath filter.
Oil-filled filter, oil off through a filter, separating out impurities in the air, filter core material with metal wire fabric, foam. Oil-bath filter, air will be sucked into the dust into the oil tank, and then filter out most of the dust, and then further filtered. Oil bath air filter, generally used for agricultural institutions, marine power.
